God’s Name Verses

The God of the Bible has a personal name and it is deemed to be important by the One who inspired all the Bible writers, Jesus Christ (Michael). It was important to Jesus to include His Father's name, Jehovah, more then 6700 times in the Old Testament. This importance has not changed through the centuries as God does not change, nor does His Son. The only change was our respect or our awareness of His Holy name. Unfortunately, because of this, God's name “Jehovah” has been all but completely forgotten from the modern pulpit.  The main reason is because the name “Jehovah” has been omitted from almost all Bibles, with three exceptions (that I know of), the Jehovah’s Witnesses Bible, the American Standard Version (no longer in print) and the JP Green Interlinear Bible, which contains the Old Testament Hebrew text. In the King James Version, “Jehovah” remains only 4 times and similar exclusions with other Bible versions/translations. Why only 4 times? My answer is because God Jehovah would not allow it to be completely eliminated. Most all Bible versions with the Old Testament are taken from the Hebrew “Masoretic Text” which fully contain uses of the “Tetragrammaton” (the 4 Hebrew letters that represent God’s personal name) 6747 times. This can be proven by viewing a Strong's Concordance, and turning to the list of verses for "Lord" and you will notice that almost all are the Srong's number #3068 (or #3069), then look up #3068 in the dictionary part of Strong's and you will see that "Jehovah" "Yehovah" is the Hebrew personal name for God Almighty. You should also look up "God" and again you will find some with #3069, "Yehovih" a slight variation but still a Hebrew name for God Almighty. There are also a few hundred times that #3069 is substituted with "God" (which is #430). There is no acceptable reason why these changes from "Jehovah" have been made to most every English versions of God's word. Can this be pleasing to God or His Son? The verses below stress the importance of His name, “Jehovah” (or Yahweh as some prefer), starting with the New Testament so you can read what Jesus had to say about His Father and our Father's name, directly or by inspiration. No Godhead authority was given to change what was written in His holy Book. For us, knowing that His name has been substituted with “Lord” and ignoring this alteration, I expect this would fall under the same logical responsibility as those making that unauthorized change originally. Do we want to give our Creator any reason at all to void His blessings for us? If we care not to acknowledge or use His name, can we praise Him in the presence of others, can we give glory to Him, as God Himself has asks us to do? "If you will not hear, and if you will not set it on your heart to give glory to My name, says Jehovah of host, then I will send a curse on you and I will curse your blessings..." (Malachi 2:2). It is not wrong to refer to Him by His various titles but it is necessary to establish who these titles belongs to, Almighty God, Jehovah.

The third Commandment stresses the vain (vain: empty, having no value) use of His personal name, "You shall not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain; for Jehovah will not leave unpunished the one who takes His name in vain." (Exodus 20:7). By continuing to leave His personal name out of our Bibles and far from our thoughts, can we be transgressing Jehovah God's third Commandment? What could be more vain and disrespectful to God then ignoring His personal name and replacing it with a general title? Can we praise the God of all creation by referring to Him with a title that is used for another, even for men? How can we expect Him to bless our name on judgment day if we don't call on Him by His name?

All verses are from the “Literal Translation” of the JP Green Interlinear Bible

One additional comment: Satan has been working diligently for the past six centuries to eliminate his opponent, Jehovah, who justly tossed him out of Heaven. Satan has been working to eliminate the One and only God, Jehovah, from the minds of man. First he encouraged the Hebrews to think that God's name was too holy to be written or spooked and he was so successful in that effort that the Hebrew's of today have totally lost the correct pronunciation of God's personal name. Only the tetragrammaton (four consonants w/o vowels) is known. Then, since the Hebrews led the way, the Christians, at some point after they were well established, followed the Hebrew lead, replaced the name of our God "Jehovah" (most common English translation) with "Lord" in the Old Testament and continued that attitude in the New Testament by eliminating it completely.

From listening to a wide variety of sermons, I can say that most Christians have not only ignored His personal name, but in part, have put Jehovah God Himself in the background, by confusing most Christians with the One and only living God, as a god of three persons, a Trinity, which is not found in scripture. Satan has been very successful at distracting the later Christian community from Jehovah, despite the words and inspiration from Christ who gave His Father all credit, and in Christ's objective to revealing His Father to us and to bring us home to our God's kingdom. There is so much more on this error but this should be sufficient to peak ones interest in conducting your own study and research in understanding the Biblical nature of God Jehovah.
