Who Is Jehovah?

The name "Jehovah" is the most commonly recognized English translation for the four Hebrew text symbols called the Tetragammaton, which represent God's personal name in the Old Testament. We must look in God's word to correctly determine whom the name "Jehovah" is representing, since there is a bit of confusion in some circles. The main reason for this confusion is, at some point in time God's name was considered too holy to pronounce and to write, so it was taken out of the Old Testament and was replaced with titles "Lord" or "God" and remains a major substitution in most all the common Christian Bibles of today, with only a few exceptions. I can only assume this deception originated with Satan, because his desire is to be considered equal or above God, "O shining star, son of the morning, how you have fallen from the heavens! You awakened the nations, you are cut down to the ground. For you have said in your heart. I will go up to the heavens; I will rise my throne above the stars of God and I will sit in the mount of meeting, in the sides of the north. I will rise over the heights of the clouds; I will be compared to the Most High..." (Isaiah 14:12-20). Satan does know that he cannot succeed at this, so plan "B" involves working at erasing the awareness of God Jehovah from the minds of anyone who allows his deceptions any rights, especially for the Christian. I haven't been able to confirm when this substitution first occurred, but I reason that it was after Christ's first advent, because Jesus surely would have corrected this, or at least addressed this unauthorized change in the scrolls He personally inspired, to the Old Testament writers He chose. The name "Jehovah", or any personal name representing God Almighty, doesn't appear in the New Testament Greek text at all, even though men and Christ Himself both, quoted from the Old Testament scrolls, containing His Father's personal name and He certainly would have spoken His Father's name when in the temple reading or quoting from the Old Testament Hebrew scrolls.

Satan's main tactic is to generate confusion and for the past 1600 years, the original Christian church changed the description of God from one to a unity of three within one god, initiating this deception for the purpose of confusion and to diminish the glory that Jehovah justly deserves. This change is now considered to be a Biblical fact and this is a tradition in most Christian denominations, holding to this error of a triune god labeling it a Trinity, and rightly represented this Trinity as a "Mystery", attempting to make confusion acceptable, even though God is clearly and continually described as "one" throughout all of God's word, "Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah." (Deuteronomy 6:4). The original Hebrew text shows this name "Jehovah" to be for God Almighty, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and Father of humanity, starting with Adam and progressing down through the ages to us, Jehovah is our Father. The one and only God, "To you it was revealed, so that you might know that Jehovah is God, and no one else besides Him." (Deuteronomy 4:35), "And let them know, Your name is Jehovah, that You alone are the Most High over all the earth."   (Psalm 83:18) and, "I am Jehovah, there is none else; there is no God except Me. I will clothe you, though you do not know Me." (Isaiah 45:5), God Almighty's words.

It is mentioned in the New Testament by Christ that His Father's name was shared with His disciples, "I revealed Your name to the men whom You gave to Me out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me; and they have kept Your word." (John 17:6), and, "And I made Your name known to them, and will make it known, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them." (John 17:26). Was not the name of God Almighty literally presented to the apostils and the disciples, even though the Greek text does not present His name? Why is His name not recorded in the Greek text? I have to believe God's name was present in the original text, according to Christ's words, but I can only speculate why it's not in any of our Bibles today. If it was omitted from the Greek text, as it was omitted in the Hebrew text 6743 times, replacing His holy name with either of two title, "Lord" and "God", then God's third Command is being transgressed and disrespected daily, "You shall not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain; for Jehovah will not leave unpunished the one takes His name in vain." (Exodus 20:7). God Himself wrote His personal name on the two tablets of stone eight times. Who are we to make His name of no value by replacing it with common titles? This lies first in the lap of the translators, but we share some responsibility because we continue this tradition because we don't search God's word. One Bible was introduced in the beginning of the nineteenth century, called the American Standard Version, which contained "Jehovah" as the Hebrew text records it, but it is now out of print and only available as an internet download. The Jehovah's Witness Bible also contains "Jehovah" as it was presented in the Hebrew text. In addition to these two Bibles, the J.P. Green Interlinear Bible also contains the name "Jehovah" in its correct amount in the Old Testament, 6747 times. The Young's Literal Translation also contains "Jehovah" as the Hebrew text reveals. There may be other Bibles that honor His name with the proper quantity.

Some churches go further in this error and contend that the name Jehovah was given to Jesus, this now becomes very offensive and more confusing, with two divine beings with the same name and no expressed distinction between them, this can not be correct, again sighting, "Hear O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah." (Deuteronomy 6:4), this verse clearly states that there is only one with the name "Jehovah". Never was the Son of God addressed or spoken of as "Jehovah", but "Michael" is indicated as Christ's Old Testament name, "But I will tell you what is written in the scripture of truth. And no one makes himself strong with Me in these things, except Michael, your ruler (master KJV)" (Daniel 10:21) and, "But Michael the archangel when contending with the Devil, he argued about the body of Moses - he dared not bring a judgment of blasphemy, but said, Let the Lord rebuke you!" (Jude 9), I must believe that the archangel, Michael was God's Son, Who else would be qualifies to contend with Satan? I can not entertain clearly how all these verses fits with the Trinity doctrine, but it is labeled a "Mystery", but for those who seek to stand on Biblical solid ground; one God, Jehovah, as Deuteronomy 6:4 spells this out so clearly. Two more verses out of the one hundred plus verses declaring God as one God, "O Jehovah of host, God of Israel, who dwells between the cherubs, You are He, God, You alone to all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made the heavens and the earth." (Isaiah 37:16) and one from the Greek text, "And the scribe said to Him, You say well Teacher. You have spoken according to truth, that God is one, and there is no other besides Him." (Mark 12:32), and the scribe was responding to Christ's word in verse 29, "And Jesus answered him, The first of all commandments is, Hear, Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord," (Mark 12:29). This was a direct quote from Deuteronomy 6:4.

This brings me to the next part, "You are our Father, though Abraham does not know us and Israel does not acknowledge us; You Jehovah, are our Father, our Redeemer; Your name is from everlasting." (Isaiah 63:16). And one from the New Testament, "Therefore, you be perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:48), this is the words from the mouth of Jesus. Jehovah is man's Father by creation, "And Jehovah God formed the man out of dust from the ground, and blew into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Gen. 2:7), plus, the Father of Michael (now named Jesus), His only-begotten, and Christ said, "Jesus said to her, Do not touch Me for I have not yet ascended...to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God." (John 20:17). Could Christ have stated this any clearer? There is a segment of Christians that claim "Jehovah" is a Family name, that it belongs to all three and they use,  "And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness..." (Gen. 1:26) as proof that God is plural, but God Himself clears up this misconception in verse 29 "And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant seeding seed which is on the face of all the earth..."(Gen. 1:29) and when God spoke of Himself He used "I" and not "We" as He used in verse 26, using "Us", which could indicates that God Jehovah was talking to His only-begotten Son, because there can be no one like God, except His offspring, the Son of God, Michael, who was with Jehovah during creation, and then later sent to earth as the Messiah (Christ), being named Jesus having become the "Son of man" by His re-birth through Mary and the spirit of Jehovah. However, if you look at the Hebrew text, "Let Us" Strong's #6213 does not include "us", also "Our image" Strong's #6754 also does not include "our", therefore, the translators added "us" and "our" by their own desired authority. Jesus speaks in the Old Testament declaring His Father to be Jehovah and Creator, "Jehovah possessed Me in the beginning of His way, from then before His works. I was there from the everlasting; from the beginning, before the earth ever was..." (Proverbs 8:22,23). Could the Father and the Son both be named Jehovah? The purpose of a name is that one knows whom a person is referring to, and when the same name is given to another, a distinction is made by a second or third name (a middle name or junior or senior) at the end. God is not one that promotes confusion, "For God is not God of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints." (1 Corinthians 14:33). There also is no verse in the Bible that makes a statement to support that Christ Jesus is named Jehovah, nor is there a verse stating that Jesus shares that name with His Father. Confusion can be eliminated by many verses in the Old Testament that call Jehovah, Savior and King, "Yet I am Jehovah, your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall know no other gods them Me. For there is no Savior besides Me." (Hosea 13:4). He is called Savior because, Jehovah first brought the Israelite out of Egypt and into the promised land, but also because He sent His Son to bring us home, to the kingdom of God, Jehovah being the originator of salvation and Jesus, also is our Savior because Christ established salvation with His blood at Calvary. His act of supreme love was for our salvation, under Jehovah's instructions, "And going forward a little, He fell on His face, praying and saying, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as Your will." (Matthew 26:39). Christ came to shepherd those who would respond to His offer, to lead them home to His Father, who sent Him and to reveal our Father to us, who is Jehovah. Wouldn't it be confusing for His objective, by possessing the exact same name as the One He is presenting to us, as our Father and our God? Let us look at what Christ revealed to us: "so that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven. Because He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good and send rain on the just and unjust." (Matt. 5:45), "Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who do the will of My Father in Heaven." (Matt. 7:21), "The one receiving you receives Me; and the one receiving Me receives Him who sent Me." (Matt. 10:40), "Behold, My child whom I chose, My beloved, in whom My soul has delighted. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will declare judgment to the nations." (Matt. 12:18), this shows the supreme authority of the Father, Jehovah. "...Jesus said...Flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father in Heaven." (Matt. 16:17), "But about that day and the hour, no one knows, neither the angels of Heaven, except the Father only."(Matt. 24:39), as you can see from Christ own words that the Father reins supreme in Heaven and Christ has come to show Jehovah, to us, that we may seek and know our Father, if we just believe Christ's words.

I ask a simple question. Can we do without Jehovah, the Father? You shouldn't have to think about this if you've read the Bible from front to back, then the answer should be an absolute, "no". We do exist because of the Father, "You (Jehovah) open Your hand and satisfy every living thing." (Psalm 145:16) "O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before Jehovah our Maker." (Psalm 95:6). Now I need to ask the next question, can we exist without God's Son, now named Jesus? We can and do exist without Jesus, and this is important, but, we cannot proceed beyond this life, that we are now experiencing without Jesus, for God needed His Son Michael, to satisfy the payment for the repented sins of man, we, being born in a sinful environment and unable to resist the temptations of Satan, we desperately need the "Lamb of God", Jesus. We ourselves could not pay the price for our repented sins and enjoy the Kingdom of God, for obvious reasons, our payment of blood would end our existence. God cannot pardon us without a blood sacrifice because His Commandments are also the rule in Heaven and the expressed sum of His character, for God is perfect and cannot change but the responsibility is for us to change from our sinful nature, by learning, understanding and loving God's commands, to do them, so that we can exist with Him and to look into His face and communicate directly with God. This is also where Jesus is absolutely necessary, we are to call and rely on Christ to first, enlighten us, then, to empower us for these necessary changes, with our complete permission and our surrendering to His power and His love. This is true teamwork and we must be part of this team in order to be qualified for translation into the next life. This comes from God the Father, Jehovah, because of His sovereign authority over everything and everyone, and by the lead of His only begotten Son, Jesus; we have been given to Him for the purpose of preparing our heart and bringing us home to His Father and our Father.
