Who Is Jehovah

The name "Jehovah" is the most commonly recognized English translation for the four Hebrew text symbols, which is called the Tetragammaton that represents God's personal name in the Old Testament Hebrew text. We must look in God's word to correctly determine whom the name "Jehovah" represents, since there is a bit of misrepresentation or confusion on this point. The main reason for this confusion is: at some point in time God's name was considered too holy to pronounce and to write so it was taken out of the Old Testament and was replaced with "Lord" or "God" and remains a major substitution in the common Christian Bibles of today, with only a few exceptions. I can only assume this deception originated from Satan, because of his desire is to be equal or above God, "O shining star, son of the morning, how you have fallen from the heavens! You weakened the nations, you are cut down to the ground. For you have said in your heart. I will go up to the heavens; I will rise my throne above the stars of God and I will sit in the mount of meeting, in the sides of the north. I will rise over the heights of the clouds; I will be compared to the Most High..." (Isaiah 14:12-20). Satan does know that he cannot succeed at this, so plan "B" involves working at erasing the awareness of God Jehovah from the minds of anyone who allows his deceptions any rights, especially to the Christian. I haven't been able to confirm when this substitution first occurred but I reason that it was after Christ's first advent, because He surly would have corrected, or at least addressed this unauthorized change in the scrolls, which He personally inspired, to the many Old Testament writers that He chose. The name "Jehovah", or any personal name representing God Almighty, doesn't appear at all in the New Testament Greek text, even though men and Christ both, quoted from Old Testament scrolls, containing His Father's personal name as it was inspired and He certainly would have spoken His Father's name when He read from the Old Testament Hebrew scrolls in the temple, or when He quoted from scripture, when Satan tempted Him at the beginning of His ministries on earth.

Satan's main tactic is to generate confusion, and about 1600 years ago, the original Christian church changed the description of God from One to a "three in one god", initiating this deception for the purpose of confusion and diverting attention away from the God Almighty Jehovah. This change is now considered by many to be a Biblically honored tradition in most Christian denomination, holding to this error of a "triune god" and labeled it a Trinity, and representing it as a "Mystery", attempting to make confusion acceptable, even though God is clearly and continually described as One, throughout God's word, "Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah." (Deuteronomy 6:4). The original Hebrew text shows this name "Jehovah" to be for God Almighty, the Father and Creator of humanity, starting with Adam and progressing down through the ages to us. The One and only God, "To you it was revealed, so that you might know that Jehovah is God, and no one else besides Him." (Deuteronomy 4:35), "And let them know, Your name is Jehovah, that You alone are the Most High over all the earth." (Psalm 83:18) and, "I am Jehovah, there is none else; there is no God except Me. I will clothe you, though you do not know Me." (Isaiah 45:5), these are God Almighty's words. These few verses are from a list numbered over one hundred in both the Old and in the New Testaments, when quoting from the scrolls using the Hebrew text.

It is mentioned in the New Testament by Christ that His Father's name was shared with His disciples, "I revealed Your name to the men whom You gave to Me out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me; and they have kept Your word." (John 17:6), and, "And I made Your name known to them, and will make it known, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them." (John 17:26). Was God Almighty's name not used by the apostils or disciples, even though Christ made mention to them of His name? Why is His name not recorded in the New Testament Greek text? I have to believe it is in the original text, according to Christ's inspiration, considering that all His chosen apostils and writers spoke Hebrew and all were called to reach out to the lost of the Jewish nation, who spoke Hebrew, so it would be only logical that they would have written in Hebrew, with the exception of Paul, who was instructed by Christ to go to the other nation, but only some being Greek. I can only speculate why Greek was chosen for the New Testament and why God's personal name "Jehovah" is not in our Bibles today. Was it omitted from the Greek text or whatever the original language was, as it was omitted in the Old Testament 6743 times, replacing His holy name with either of two titles, "Lord" and "God", I cannot say? Because of this, the third Commandment is being transgressed more then I can count, "You shall not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain; for Jehovah will not leave unpunished the one takes His name in vain." (Exodus 20:7). God Himself wrote His personal name on the two tablets of stone eight times. Who are we to make His name of no value by replacing it with a common title? But some go further in their error and contend that the name "Jehovah" was given to Jesus, this now becomes offensive along with confusing, with two divine beings with the same name and no distinction between them, this can not be correct, again sighting, "Hear O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah." (Deuteronomy 6:4), this verse clearly states that there is only one named "Jehovah". Never was the Son of God addressed or spoken of as "Jehovah", but "Michael" was indicated as Christ's Old Testament name, "But I will tell you what is written in the scripture of truth. And no one makes himself strong with Me in these things, except Michael, your ruler (master KJV)" (Daniel 10:21) and, "But Michael the archangel when contending with the Devil, he argued about the body of Moses - he dared not bring a judgment of blasphemy, but said, Let the Lord rebuke you!" (Jude 9). I can not entertain how all this fits with a triune god, concept labeled it as a "Mystery", but for those who seek to stand on Biblical solid ground; there is one God, "Jehovah", as Deuteronomy 6:4 spells this out so clearly. One more verse out of the many verses declaring God Jehovah to be one God, "And let them know, Your name is Jehovah, that You alone are the Most High over all the earth." (Psalm 83:18).

This brings me to the next part, "You are our Father, though Abraham does not know us and Israel does not acknowledge us; You Jehovah, are our Father, our Redeemer; Your name is from everlasting." (Isaiah 63:16) and one from the New Testament, "Therefore, you be perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:48), Jehovah is our Father by creation, "And Jehovah God formed the man out of dust from the ground, and blew into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Gen. 2:7) and the Father of Michael (now named Jesus), His only-begotten, and Christ said, "Jesus said to her, Do not touch Me for I have not yet ascended...to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God." (John 20:17). There is a segment of Christians that claim "Jehovah" is a family name, that it belongs to all three (Trinitarian viewed) and they use,  "And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness..." (Gen. 1:26) as proof that God is plural, but God Himself clears up this misconception in verse 29 "And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant seeding seed which is on the face of all the earth..."(Gen. 1:29) and when God spoke of Himself, He used "I" and not "We" and "Us" as He is translated as saying in verse 26, which should indicates that God Jehovah was talking to His only-begotten Son, because there can be no one like God except His offspring, the Messiah, named Jesus after He became the Son of man, having been reborn to Mary by the spirit of Jehovah. However, I need to bring up alternate possibility: Strong's number #6213 for "Let Us make," asah; to do or to make is the general meaning but there are about 30 related terms but nowhere is there any indication of "Us" or anything close, implying that the translators added this by their own authority instead of "I will make," as good example, and the same for "in Our image", Strong's #6754, tselem; to shade, illusion, or resemblance, and others but no "Our" is presented, again the translators added by their own authority.

Jesus, speaks in the Old Testament, declaring His Father to be Jehovah and Creator, "Jehovah possessed Me in the beginning of His way, from then before His works. I was there from the everlasting; from the beginning, before the earth ever was..." (Proverbs 8:22,23). Could the Father and the Son both be named Jehovah? The purpose of names are so one knows whom a person is referring to, and when the same name is given to another, a distinction is made by a second or third name (a middle name) or adding junior or senior at the end. God is not one that promotes confusion, "For God is not God of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints." (1 Corinthians 14:33). There also is no verse in the Bible that makes a statement to support that Christ Jesus is named Jehovah, nor that He shares that name with His Father. Confusion may have been started by the many verses in the Old Testament that call Jehovah, Savior and King, "Yet I am Jehovah, your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall know no other gods then Me. For there is no Savior besides Me." (Hosea 13:4). Jehovah is called Savior because, He first brought the Israelite out of Egypt and into the promise land, the Son of God was not yet a Savior.  Jehovah was again the Savior because He sent His Son to bring those interested His salvation, home to the kingdom of God, Jehovah being the originator of salvation and Jesus also later became our Savior because He established His Father's salvation with His own blood on the cross at Calvery. His act of supreme love was for our salvation, under Jehovah's instructions, "And going forward a little, He fell on His face, praying and saying, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will." (Matthew 26:39).

Christ's first advent was to shepherd those who would respond to God's offer and to lead them home to His Father, who sent Him to reveal His Father to man. Wouldn't it be confusing for His objective, by claiming the exact same name as the One He is presenting to us, as our Father and our God? Let us look at what Christ revealed to us: "so that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven. Because He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good and send rain on the just and unjust." (Matt. 5:45), "...nor do they gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feeds them..."  (Matt. 6:26), "Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who do the will of My Father in Heaven." (Matt. 7:21), "The one receiving you receives Me; and the one receiving Me receives Him who sent Me." (Matt. 10:40), and none of these verses are confusing. Now, words from Jehovah, "Behold, My child whom I chose, My beloved, in whom My soul has delighted. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will declare judgment to the nations." (Matt. 12:18), this shows the supreme authority of the Father, Jehovah. "...Jesus said...Flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father in Heaven." (Matt. 16:17), "But about that day and the hour, no one knows, neither the angels of Heaven, except the Father only."(Matt. 24:39), as you can see from Christ's own words that the Father reins supreme in Heaven and Christ has come to show Jehovah, His Father to us, that we may seek and also know our Father in Heaven, Jehovah.

I ask a simple question: Can we do without Jehovah, the Father? You shouldn't have to think about this if you've read the Bible from front to back, then the answer should be an absolute, "no". We do exist because of the Father, "You (Jehovah) open Your hand and satisfy every living thing." (Psalm 145:16) "O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before Jehovah our Maker." (Psalm 95:6). Now I need to ask the next question, can we exist without God's Son, now named Jesus? We can and do exist without Jesus, but this is important, we cannot proceed beyond this life that we are now experiencing, for God needed His Son Michael, to satisfy the payment for the repented sins of man, we, being born in a sinful environment and unable to resist the temptations of Satan, we desperately need the Lamb of God, Jesus. We ourselves could not pay the price for our repented sins and enjoy the Kingdom of God, for obvious reasons. God cannot pardon us without blood because His Commandments are also the rule in Heaven and the expressed sum of His character, for God is perfect and cannot change, but the responsibility is for us to change from our sinful nature, learning, understanding and loving God's commands, to do them, so that we can exist with Him and look at and communicate with Jehovah, face to face. This is also where Jesus is absolutely necessary, we are to call and rely on Christ to enlighten us, then, empower us for these necessary changes, with our complete permission and our surrender to His power and His love. This is true teamwork and we must be part of this team for our translation into the next life. This comes from God the Father, Jehovah, because of His sovereign authority over everything and everyone, by the lead of His only begotten Son, Jesus. Man was given to Him for the purpose of preparing our hearts and leading us home to His Father and our Father. All the rules are Jehovah's rules and all the grace is His grace and Christ has enlightened us to accept Jehovah's grace, "For Jehovah God is a sun and shield; Jehovah will give grace and glory; He will withhold nothing good from those who walk in integrity." (Psalm 84:11)
