The Glory of God

Understanding that God is one, according to all of Scripture, being called the "most high" God, eliminating any other, "And Abram said to the king of Sodom. I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, the most high God, the possessor of Heaven and earth." (Genesis 14:22), there could only be one God to claim that title of supreme and complete with all authority, "Hear O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah." (Deuteronomy 6:4), this verse is taken from the Hebrew text and approximately 100 other verses in the Old and New Testaments which states or indicates that God is only one; two gods could not hold this position. There is no verse in the entire Bible that states that God is more then one, even though the general Christian community claims that God is a triune (three in one) god. This article will explores this error and will be based on the Biblical truth, a reality that God is only one in makeup and number, as any dictionary, including the Strong's dictionary part, presents it.

All Old Testament text credits God Jehovah as the exclusive Creator of all things, including man, "These are the births of the heavens and of the earth when they were created in the day that Jehovah was making earth and heavens." (Genesis 2:4) and, "And God Jehovah formed the man out of dust from the ground, and blew into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Exodus 2:7). Plus, "And Jehovah said to him, Who has made the mouth of man? Or who makes one dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, Jehovah?" (Exodus 4:11), "To you it was revealed, so that you might know that Jehovah is God, and no one else besides Him." (Deuteronomy 4:35). "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse inscribes His handiwork." (Psalm 19:1), "Know that Jehovah, He is God; He has made us, and not we ourselves - His people and the sheep of His pasture." (Psalm 100:3), read Job chapter 40 through 42, where Jehovah describes to Job just some of His creative works.

I need to let God's word clear up a matter held by some Christians, that Jesus was given the name "Jehovah", "Jehovah possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works." (Proverbs 8:22), "Me" could only be the Son of God, now named Jesus, unless "Me" is "wisdom" which is what Proverbs 8 is centered on. "Who has gone up to Heaven, and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His fist? Who had bound the waters in His garments? Who has made all the ends of the earth to rise? What is His name, and what is His Son's name? Surely you know." (Proverbs 30:4), verse 9 reveals "Jehovah" as the name of God, this also reveals that Jehovah has a Son, but it does not give His name or say that His Son is also God. "So says Jehovah, Heaven is My throne, and earth the footstool of My feet. Where then is the house that you built for Me? And where then is the place of My rest? And My hand has made all these things, even all these things exist, declares Jehovah..." (Isaiah 66:1,2). One more verse confirming who "Jehovah" is, and that He is the Creator, according to the Old Testament, even though there are many more, "And command them to go to their masters saying, So says Jehovah of host, the God of Israel: So you shall say to your masters, I have made the earth, the man and the animals that are on the face of the earth, by My great power, and by My outstretched arm; and I have given it to whom it seem right in My eyes." (Jeremiah 27:4,5). Is their still doubt in your mind that Jehovah is the One and only God, and His glory started with His Creations? His creative works of this earth are for our benefit, His salvation is for all who seek Him, "But the salvation of the righteous is from Jehovah. He is their strength in the time of distress." (Psalm 37:39), "declare and bring near; yea, let them consult together. Who has revealed this of old; who has told it from then? Is it not I? And there is no other God other then Me; a just God and a Savior, there is none except Me." (Isaiah 45:21) and "Jehovah has bared His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God." (Isaiah 52:10) and in the New Testament, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation to everyone believing, both to Jew first and to Greek." (Romans 1:16) and, "And they cry with a great voice saying, Salvation to our God sitting on the throne, and to the Lamb." (Revelation 7:10). The "Lamb" is of course Jesus, who has established His Father's salvation for humanity with His own blood.

In the Old Testament their is endless praise toward God, and His glory is revealed to them by His many extreme and timely gifts, The manna that fed the Israelites for forty years in the wilderness, the shoes that didn't wear out, the battles that were won, despite overwhelming odds and the deliverers that Jehovah sent to them, to free them from their captives, once they confessed their transgressions and pleaded for Jehovah's help.

In the New Testament, God's glory was displayed by Christ's many miracles because Jesus gave credit to His Father who sent Him, "Then Jesus answered and said to them, Truly, truly, say to you, the Son is not able to do anything from Himself, except what He may see the Father doing; for whatever that One does, these things the Son does the same way." (John 5:19), "For I have come down out of Heaven, not that I should do My will, but the will of Him who sent Me." (John 6:38) and, "Jesus answered them, I showed you many good works from My Father. For which work of them do you stone Me?" (John 10:32).  Christ, having been lowered from His original Heavenly make-up, which He received when He was brought forth, "Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth." (Proverbs 8:25), Christ gave up His Heavenly status and condition for the purpose of death, "but we do see Jesus crowned with glory and honor, who on account of suffering of death was made a little less then the angels, so that by the grace of God He might taste of death for every son." (Hebrews 2:9), Christ was performing His miracles by faith in His Father, Jehovah God, "...The words which I speak to you I do not speak from Myself, but the Father who abides in Me, He does the works." (Hebrews 2:9).

The glory of God was displayed by His Son during Christ's first advent, and the will of the Father was to establish His salvation for His created people, whom He gave to His Son, "My Father who has given them to Me is greater then all, and no one is able to pluck out of My Father's hand." (John 10:29). God's perfect and endless glories are for the people He created, who are His crowning glory, and because perfection cannot be altered, God needed a way to accomplish His desire for grace to the human race, so He sent His only-begotten Son for this purpose. Christ personally knew His Father like no one else could, and this gave Him the strength to exercise the faith He needed to live a perfect earthly existence, in order to qualify Himself as the "Lamb of God" to take away the sins of the world. Christ established His Father's salvation on the cross for the sole purpose of freeing mankind, those who understood that they needed personal cleansing, purifying the heart in preparation to exist in God's kingdom, in order to be able to be in the presence of man's Creator. Glory belongs to God because of His never-ending love for His created beings. It seems a possibility to me that God's other created beings, His heavenly angels have already passed the test when Lucifer challenged the Heavenly host with his accusations against Jehovah and His government, resulting in one third failing the test and were cast out with Satan from their Heavenly home to earth, "And the great dragon was cast out - the old serpent being called Devil, and Satan, he deceiving the whole habitable world - was cast out onto the earth, and his angels were cast with him." (Revelation 12:9), and now Satan challenges the human race with his deceptions, to pervert Jehovah's word and to prevent our purification, in order to deny us a life with Jehovah, Jesus and the remaining two thirds of God's angels for an eternity.

Another of God's endless glories is His flawless truth, which He established when He designed and created this perfect system in complete balance, with co-dependency and intertwining all things. All together they are truth, unchangeable, and for man's benefit. Man is the only aspect of God's creations that does not fit into God's permanent truth, not yet anyway. We were given the ability to reason for the purpose of learning and choosing to love God, our Creator, and once we make that decision, whole-heartedly, we will be sealed to fit into God's perfect truth and be part of God's kingdom and to be joined into Jehovah's everlasting reality, His eternal glory. This is for us to decide during this age of decision, and to prepare ourselves to be with God Jehovah and His Son, along with all the Heavenly host, which will soon include all those that have made it their choice and their effort to seek and love God Jehovah and His only-begotten Son,
